Must blog....

It's 10:50 pm on our first full day at Tenwek Hospital.  We've been up since 5:45 and are in the middle of our second open heart.  I got out of the OR at 8 pm and ran back to the guest house to grab some dinner.  I needed to run back again just now to get some more paperwork for the OR and had to stop and post somesthing.  It's going to be quick and out of order...

It's been days since I've had a charged computer and the time to sit and photo edit and blog... and it's been killing me.  I've got some great photos to share, but not time to devote to it right now, so here's some of the Amsterdam photos that I worked on in the airport before my computer died.

I took this photo during our 9 hour layover in Amsterdam.  The canals were incredible.  It's my new favorite city.

How much fun is this Amsterdam street corner?

After returning to Schiphol airport from our little excursion the rest of the "first wave" was there waiting for us.  As you can tell, it wasn't very much fun at all.  Everyone is tired but super excited.  From left to right:  Rebeccah, Kari, Anna, Kristen and Kristen.

Our good friends Malik and Ann (son Nathan playing kickball outside the picture frame) are back at Tenwek again this year.  Malik is one of our anesthesiologists this year.  Right nexts to him is Dr. Luke from Indianapolis (and my roomie for the next 2 weeks at Tenwek).  The far left is Hoang one of my perfusion colleagues with us at Tenwek, also from Indianapolis.

A special "shout-out" to Luke's wife who's been a faithful blog follower.  Thanks for your post!

No pictures of the camera guy yet, he's too busy taking pictures and/or in the OR.  Got to get back to the OR...

;)

Hello from a friend of Luke's wife! I'll be following along as well. I spent some time at Moi Hospital in Eldoret Kenya a couple of years ago, so I am curious how Tenwick does things. Mostly I worked in WHO food distribution as I don't have a medical background. I am so excited for Luke to have this adventure.

Loving the blog as always since this seems to be our only form of communication while you are there.
