Surgery Day #1

The above photo is of the surgery board at the front desk in the OR at Tenwek Hospital where all the patient surgical procedures are listed each day. Kind of says it all, huh?

It's 7:30 pm and we're still in surgery on our 2nd patient of the day.  It's been a long day and it's not over yet, but everything has gone so well for everyone involved today.  Our first patient from this morning is sitting up in the ICU taking small sips of water.  She's doing amazingly well.  Thanks for all the prayers and support - the patients and the team are so appreciative knowing that you all are behind what we are doing here at Tenwek Hospital.

I hope to be able to post some "poignant pics" later this evening if there is time.  Each evening we  hold a cath conference to discuss the patients that are being seen in cardiology clinic daily to decide which patients should be prioritized for surgery.  Each evening the team has devotions around 9:00 pm and then we need to go back into surgery to set up for the next days cases so the days are full.

More later... hopefully...
